Carolina Superstars Instructors
Hazel is the owner of Carolina Superstars Baton & Dance. She is a graduate of Anderson University where she earned her degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She has taught baton and dance in the area for over 30 years and has devoted her life to working with children. Hazel currently coaches the Clemson University Tiger Twirlers and the Clemson University Tiger Dancers. Hazel has had numerous teams and solo twirlers win National titles over the years. She judges dance and baton competitions across the nation. She has helped many young girls reach their goals in the areas of baton and dance. She has immense experience in recreational and competitive class environments. Her love for children and desire to see them develop a positive self-image makes her an incredible teacher.
Ansley has a business management degree from Clemson University and is currently in graduate school at Clemson University for Human Resources development. Ansley was the Clemson Feature Twirler where she has performed at all Clemson football, soccer, and basketball games as well as other on campus events. Ansley even twirled at the National Championship game where the Clemson football team won the national title. She is now the Clemson University Feature Twirler Coach. Ansley is currently serving on the board for the Clemson Tiger Band Alumni Association. Prior to attending Clemson University she won the National Twirling Championships in 2011. This placed her on Team USA. She traveled to Switzerland in 2012 for the World Baton Twirling Championships and received a silver medal. Her twirling abilities allowed her to receive the Carolyn Creel Feature Twirler Scholarship to Clemson University. Ansley loves sharing her love for baton and dance with her students!
Marilla Riggs is a 25 year old Tennessee native currently living in Anderson, SC. She began herMarilla Riggs is a 25 year old Tennessee native currently living in Anderson, SC. She began herdancing at the age of 3, and by the time she graduated high school was trained in ballet, pointe,jazz, tap, modern, and musical theatre styles. Marilla continued her dance education andgraduated with her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from Shenandoah Conservatory in 2014.Post-grad she worked as the Administrative and Production Assistant as well as an apprenticefor Christopher K. Morgan & Artists, a contemporary company based just outside WashingtonD.C., while also teaching at several studios. She got married in 2015 and is now the proud momof her daughter, Malia Kate, who was born in March 2017. Marilla is so excited to get back toteaching, and she is so happy to be joining the staff at Carolina Superstars Baton & Dance!
Ashley is from Hartwell, Ga and is a student at Clemson University majoring in Marketing. She has been twirling for 12 years and counting. She was on the Hart County High School marching and competition majorette line. Ashley is going on her third year being a Tiger Twirler for Clemson University Tiger Band. She performs pre-game and halftime shows in Death Valley, as well as traveling to various away games. She has had the honor of twirling for the Tigers in two National Championships and multiple bowl games. In the off season, Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and playing bass guitar for her church.
Genna is from Howell, Nj and will be graduating from Clemson University with a degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition in May of 2019. She is going on her third year of being a Clemson Tiger Dancer. Her favorite part about dancing for Clemson is performing pregame with her friends! After graduating, Genna plans to become an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Carson King is a senior at Clemson University majoring in Marketing with a minor in Biological Sciences. She has been involved in twirling since she was 7 years old and has competed at state, regional, and national competitions. Carson twirled individually, on a team, and as the feature twirler for her high school. At Clemson, Carson was a Tiger Twirler for her first three years (captain her third) and is the current Clemson Feature Twirler. Carson has been an instructor at Carolina Superstars since 2017 and loves seeing her students grow through hard work. Carson's favorite part about twirling and dance is watching different personalities shine through in performances!
Reagan King is a sophomore Nursing major and Tiger Twirler at Clemson University. She has been twirling since the age of 4 and has competed individually and with a team for many years at the national and international level. She was the feature twirler of her high school, along with her sister, Carson. She has loved twirling in Death Valley and the opportunity to twirl in various arenas for postseason. Reagan began teaching baton lessons for her childhood team in high school and has been able to continue with Carolina Superstars. She loves working with the students and watching them grow into amazing twirlers and dancers!
